Library Services for Faculty: VIVA Cooperative Borrowing Program

About VIVA

The Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA) is the consortium of nonprofit academic libraries within the Commonwealth of Virginia. Members include all of the 39 state-assisted colleges and universities (the 6 doctoral universities, 9 4-year institutions, and 24 community and two-year branch colleges), as well as 33 of the independent (private, nonprofit) institutions and the Library of Virginia.

VIVA's mission is to provide, in an equitable, cooperative and cost-effective manner, enhanced access to library and information resources for the Commonwealth of Virginia's nonprofit academic libraries serving the higher education community.

VIVA Universal Borrowing program

Cooperative Borrowing Program allows EMU faculty, staff and students to visit a participating VIVA school and check out material from the library.  This might be especially helpful for those living closer to another VIVA school.  Don't worry; interlibrary loan is still available.

Not all VIVA schools are participating and there may be restrictions on the number and type of items one can borrow.  Please see the link below for more information on this project and which schools are involved.  EMU faculty, staff and students should be good neighbors and comply with all policies of the library they are utilizing.
