Library Services for Faculty: Open Educational Resources

Open Textbook Library

Open Textbook Library

Textbooks every student can access and afford

Open textbooks are textbooks that have been funded, published, and licensed to be freely used, adapted, and distributed. These books have been reviewed by faculty from a variety of colleges and universities to assess their quality. These books can be downloaded for no cost or printed at low cost. All textbooks are either used at multiple higher education institutions or affiliated with an institution, scholarly society, or professional organization.

The Open Textbook Library is supported by the Center for Open Education and the Open Textbook Network.

ROAM Repository of Open and Affordable Materials (Penn State University Libraries)

What is ROAM?

Launched in 2007 by the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences and formerly known as OPEN.ED@PSU.EDU, Penn State's OER initiative enables departments and individual faculty to provide educational resources free of charge under a Creative Commons license. As long as they adhere to the license, teachers and learners around the world are free to download, remix, translate, localize, and adapt these materials for their own purposes.
