Collaborative MBA: InterLibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is available to Goshen College faculty, retired faculty, students and staff. The service allows us to borrow items that are not owned by the Good Library from other libraries. Please read the information below before making your request.

Online Interlibrary Loan form

NOTE: Few libraries will send out videos or DVDs on interlibrary loan.

How to request items:

  • Verify that the item is not owned by Goshen College by checking the Good Library catalog.
  • Complete a separate ILL request form for each item needed.
  • When possible please use "Request interlibrary loan" or "Request this item" links within individual databases. Use the online forms linked above when direct request within the database is not available.

How long will it take?

It may take from eight days to three weeks to receive ILL materials, depending on location and availability. Materials are borrowed from the closest lending library whenever possible. We cannot predict if requests will be received within a specified time period. We encourage you to submit ILL requests well in advance of your project/paper deadline.

Does it cost anything?

The library borrows for free when possible. If the lending library charges a fee, Good Library will pay the first $15. We ask on the form that you let us know if you are willing to pay any amount above this if there is a fee.

How will I be notified when my materials are in?

Once a book is received, ILL will notify you by email or phone. Books may be picked up at the circulation desk during library hours. Print articles will be sent via campus mail. Electronic copies of requested articles will be emailed as attachments to the email address you provide on the form.

Length of loans / renewals / fines:

The lending library specifies the length of time books may be kept (usually two to four weeks). Renewals should be requested at least three days prior to the due date. Some libraries may not grant renewals, so please plan to pick up and use ILL materials promptly. A fine of $0.25 per day per item is assessed for overdue interlibrary loan materials. Please fill out the renewal form or email the interlibrary loan department (interlibrary@goshen.edu) to renew your materials.

For more information about interlibrary loan, please contact the ILL department (interlibrary@goshen.edu).
