College Writing Library Tutorial: Finding Articles

Finding Articles

Generally, you start with a database to find articles in scholarly journals, magazines, and newspapers.

EMU subscribes to many databases which can be discipline specific (nursing, business, education, etc...) or cross-disciplinary.
You can view a complete list of the databases EMU subscribes to here.

When you search in a database, most of the time you will begin with a keyword search to find articles which relate to your topic. The articles you find will therefore be from a variety of journals, magazines, or newspapers.

You can save time and frustration when you are looking for journal articles by limiting your search to scholarly journals.

Finding Specific Journal Titles

Sometimes you may want to access a particular journal title, instead of doing keyword searches in a database.  You can search and access specific journals through the EMU Periodicals link.
