Library 101: Finding Articles

Where to Find Articles

Generally you start with a database to find articles in magazines and journals.  This allows you to search by subject or keyword.  EMU has general databases and subject specific ones as well.  The guides, such as Nursing or Education, suggest specific databases for that area of study.

Sometimes you know of a particular journal which fits your topic area perfectly.  You can search specific journals through the publisher website or see if EMU has access through a database by using the EMU Periodicals link.

You may not have complete access to a journal through the publisher's website.  EMU may not subscribe to a title or you might be off-campus.

Some articles are freely available on the web.
